DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Police in two counties are trying to figure out who shot a woman who was found bleeding inside a minivan outside a gas station in Norcross early Monday.

Police responded to the call at about 4:30 a.m. at the Exxon on Jimmy Carter Blvd. near Rolling Way.

DeKalb County police said a couple in the van offered a ride to another couple walking along Lawrenceville Highway.

Shortly after picking up the couple, they noticed a white car driving aggressively around them.

The driver of the van pulled into a shopping plaza and a woman in the white car jumped out with gun and fired shots at the passenger side of the van, police said.

The couple picked-up alongside the road jumped out and ran.

After the shooting, police said the driver of the white car sped off and the victims drove to the gas station in Norcross and called 911 after realizing how badly the woman was injured.

The woman was alert and breathing, police said. Paramedics transported her to a hospital.

Gwinnett County police turned over the case to DeKalb County police when they learned that the actual shooting occurred in DeKalb County.
