With parking sold out, Braves open lot at Lakewood for playoff games

Posted: Updated:

With upwards of 100,000 people expected at Turner Field Thursday and Friday for the Braves playoff games against the Los Angeles Dodgers, extra parking has been made available at Lakewood Amphitheater. It marks the first time this season that Lakewood will be used as an additional parking area.

Officials with the Atlanta Braves said all parking in the main lots adjacent to the stadium is sold out, and are encouraging fans to take MARTA to the game. For fans who still want to drive, a shuttle service is available from Lakewood Amphitheater. The shuttle is free, but parking is $5 per vehicle.

Parking for the amphitheater is at 1920 Pryor Rd. SW, Atlanta, GA 30315. The shuttle will make its first run around 4 p.m. Thursday, and will provide service for 90 minutes after the final out of the game.

There are other parking lots not affiliated with the team in the neighborhoods around the stadium. Spaces in those lots are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, but have been known to cost as much as $40 per vehicle for highly-anticipated games.

The first pitch of Game One between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves is set for 8:37 p.m. Thursday.
