MARTA to hold annual training exercise at College Park Station

COLLEGE PARK, GA (CBS46) -

MARTA will conduct its annual emergency training exercise involving a staged emergency incident at College Park Station from 8 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday.

To accommodate the staging of emergency vehicles, customers are asked to remove their vehicles from College Park Station starting at 11:59 p.m. Friday.

Daily parking will not be available all day Saturday, however, long-term parking will not be affected. Additional daily parking will be available at East Point and Lakewood/Fort McPherson stations.

Buses will continue to run at College Park Station, but will board and unload at the North Bus Loop.

Additionally, several streets will close:

  • Complete closure of East Main Street from Lee Street to Harvard Avenue
  • Complete closure of Lee Street from East Main Street to Columbia Avenue
  • Access to Interstate 85 South from Lee Street will NOT be available
  • Main Street will be the access point to gain entry onto I-85 North and South

These annual training exercises and drills provide the opportunity for the MARTA Police Department, staff and other emergency response agencies to address simulated incidents in real-life settings.
