Atlanta Two Day Walk for Breast Cancer finishes strong

Posted: Updated:

The Atlanta Two Day Walk for Breast Cancer finished in Atlantic Station on Sunday with cheers and hugs.

Many of the women who walked 30 miles this weekend are breast cancer survivors.

"We're fortunate we're survivors and we're here so anything we can do to help others, that's what we are going to do," said Orly Alonzo Seale, a breast cancer survivor.

The walk is put on by the organization It's a Journey. It raises money for breast cancer programs in Georgia that provide screening, treatment and therapy.

Walkers conquered 20 miles on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. They walked in Decatur and Atlanta.

"You just want to live every moment and not be afraid of anything," said Kim Waitz, a breast cancer survivor.

About 800 people walked in the event and each walker was asked to raise $1,000.

CBS Atlanta and Peachtree Tree are proud sponsors of the walk.
