A man was finally captured in Forest Park early Monday morning after putting up a fight for nine minutes, according to Maj. Chris Matson of the Forest Park Police Department.

Isaiah Barker was initially pulled over on Forest Parkway near Lake Drive for driving with his high beams on, according to the department's report. After being asked for identification, police say Barker flew the scene after striking a sergeant.

Officers used hand-to-hand techniques, stun guns, pepper spray and a baton in an effort to secure Barker, which police say had no affect. He was eventually caught when he jumped into the passenger side of a police car and tried to steal it.

Barker was taken to the Southern Regional Medical Center for treatment due to suspected drug use.

Authorities eventually discovered Barker was wanted for the 2011 murder of his pregnant girlfriend in Highland, IN.

One officer sustained a sprained ankle in the incident.

Barker is being charged locally with obstruction of a police officer, assault on a police officer and attempted motor vehicle theft.
