High school players and coaches scrimmage over ribs

Posted: Updated:

Local high school football players and coaches faced off Monday night over a plate full of ribs at Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Marietta.

Coaches and players representing seven schools brought their appetites, dug in and ate Texas-sized plates of ribs all to help benefit their athletic programs.

Some coaches were excited to show what they could do with a plate of food.

"I'm looking forward to compete with some of these coaches," said coach Jonathan McKinney from Kell High School, "because we do see them in the regular season and it will just be another win on the victory list for Kell."

Coach David Blaylock from Cherokee High School said, "I think we'll do great. I've got a partner that can eat half a cow by himself."

Unfortunately, neither school won.

A group of players from Harrison High School won the contest.

Ten percent of all food sales at Texas Roadhouse on Monday went to Harrison High.
