Members of the Gwinnett County SWAT team found an empty home after entering a residence where a gunman was believed to be barricaded.
The situation started around 10 p.m. Thursday on Castle Drive. Police responded to a disturbance where a man had fired his weapon after a domestic dispute.
Several children and adults were inside the home at the time. They escaped unharmed.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the man who they believed was still inside the home. SWAT officers entered the home around 4:45 a.m. They found it empty. They now believe he may have slipped out before the first officers arrived.
Authorities told CBS Atlanta News that man had a prior conviction for assault with a gun. There are warrants for his arrest relating to Thursday night's incident.
