Saturday night was the second night in a row that 21-year-old Kim Kilgore would not come to work at the Collett Country Store where she was a part-time server for three years while a student Kennesaw State University.

She was killed Friday in what Cobb County Police said was a road rage incident.

At the Collett Country Store, 12-year-employee Angie Howard said she thought of Kilgore, like the other young women who work alongside of her, as a daughter.

"It's a real hard feeling," Howard said. "Right now, I just feel numb."

Howard, a cashier, had the task of explaining what happened to Kilgore to each customer, because right next to the cash register, was a jug with a picture of Kilgore taped to it.

"So what happened to her?" one customer asked.

"She was killed in an accident," Howard said. "She was shot and killed."

Cobb County Police have charged 22-year-old Sparkle Lindsey, of Austell, in Kilgore's death. Lindsey faces aggravated assault and murder charges, and is currently being held in Cobb County Jail. She had her first appearance on Saturday night.

It was the same night that regular customer Barbara Grinstead came to the restaurant and discovered what happened to the woman while paying her bill.

"All the girls here are sweet, lovely and kind, and it's been a shock to all of us," Grinstead said. "Everybody down here has been like family. We are very shocked, very hurt."

Management at the restaurant hopes to take the funds raised to a bank after the holiday weekend and start an account for Kilgore that anyone can donate to.

The store also posted a statement on its Facebook page late Friday night.

"We want to thank each and everyone of you for all the love, support and prayers! Please share with others... We are taking a donation for Kim's family! We have a huge jar set up at the store/restaurant if anyone wants to come by. If you cant make it, please fill free to send check or money order...

"Make payable to her mom: Becky Kilgore Mail to: Collett Country Store, 4179 Marietta St., Powder Springs, GA 30127

"Kim was such a wonderful girl! It was such a joy and wonderful experience to have had the opportunity to work with her. It's definitely not going to be the same around here without her here! Again, thank you for all your love, support, and prayers! We will keep everyone posted about the funeral arrangements!"
