A Family Dollar store clerk was stabbed Sunday afternoon after Atlanta police said she tried to stop a man from stealing video games.
Atlanta police Sgt. E.L. Teague said the man had already been banned from coming into the Cascade Avenue store and had a previous history of shoplifting accusations there.
"When he entered the store, one of the cashiers recognized him as not supposed to be on the property," Teague said. "So she confronted him, asked him to leave the store several times. Apparently he got agitated and started swinging on the cashier, and as a result, she was stabbed several times on the lower part of her body."
Police said the woman is recovering from those injuries.
Customers had to wait for hours as store clerks cleaned the floors after the stabbing.
Police are now looking at surveillance video to see if they can find out who the man is and where he might have gone.
