Gwinnett County arson investigators search for fire cause

Posted: Updated:

Gwinnett County arson investigators are investigating the cause of a fire at a car dealership.

That fire broke out just before 2 a.m. Monday at Auto Max at the intersection of Buford Highway and Beaver Ruin Road.

According to fire officials, a 911 caller stated that they saw smoke and fire coming from the business and heard explosions inside.

"The explosions, although there hasn't been a definitive determination as far as what caused it, is most likely the products that were inside the business," said Lt. Colin Rhoden with the Gwinnett County Fire Department.

Fire crews arriving to the scene saw fire coming from the end of the service area of the auto dealership.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to put the fire out.
