ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta police are investigating a fatal car accident that happened Saturday night in southwest Atlanta near 670 Clover St.

An Atlanta Police Department representative said fire units arrived on Clover Street just after 11:30 p.m. to find a man trapped under a car.

Fire units removed the man from under the car and took him to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Police said a witness at the scene told them the suspect, Bryan Bush, was drinking and hit the victim with his car. According to police, the witness said Bush drove into the victim, put his car in reverse and drove over the victim once again.

The car remained on top of the victim, and a witness had to forcibly remove Bush from the car, a police statement said.

The victim had several fractures and a lacerated liver.

Police took a blood sample from Bush and he was charged with aggravated battery.

Detectives said they may file additional charges once they get results from Bush's blood sample.
