ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) -

Fire damaged a small northwest Atlanta grocery store late Sunday night, causing smoke damage in some other nearby businesses.

Firefighters responded at a little after 11 p.m. to the building, which is at the intersection of W. Lake and North avenues. They initially had a hard time entering the building.

"The building was pretty secure with the iron gates," said Battalion Chief Stephen Hill of Atlanta Fire and Rescue. "It took us a minute to get inside, but we were able to get through and start putting the fire out. That slowed us down just a little bit."

No one was injured in the fire, which apparently started on the first floor of the two-story building, according to firefighters. A martial arts studio in the same building sustained smoke damage.
