One of two suspects accused of a home invasion and armed robbery of a woman on hospice care entered a guilty plea inside a Douglas County courtroom Monday.

Emanuel Christian Beague wore a Douglas County Jail blue jumpsuit when he admitted to the crime.

It happened on Feb. 22. Chris Walker and his fiance Erica Armstrong were just getting out of bed when they heard a knock at the door of their Douglasville apartment.

"She was on hospice at the time and we would have medication delivered," said Walker. "We had a scheduled medicine drop for that morning, that's why we opened the door. That's what we were expecting - medicine."

Walker said he didn't expect to see two men with a gun.

"My first instinct was to slam the door shut but he wedged his arm in the door and overpowered me," said Walker. "As soon as he overpowered me, he hit me in the head and I fell to the floor."

Walker said the men pistol-whipped him and then placed him and Armstrong in separate rooms.

"I was bleeding from the head, they hog-tied me with an extension cord and asked me where were my guns and rifles," Walker said.

Prosecutors said Beague and Dwight Blalock were there to steal guns Walker collected. The suspects found out Walker collected them from one of Walker's neighbors.

After they got what they wanted, the prosecutor said Beague and Blalock led police on a high-speed chase and it was all caught on a deputy's dash-cam video.

Police caught both suspects later that night. Beague made a deal and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. Blalock will take his chances with a jury.

The jury will hear opening statements and testimony from Walker and Armstrong on Tuesday.
