(RNN) - The U.S. Geological Survey has detected a 7.3 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Honshu, Japan.

The tsunami advisory issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency has been canceled.

Residents of Tokyo, 300 miles away, felt the quake.

The temblor has struck near the Fukushima region of Japan, where an 8.9 magnitude earthquake rocked that region in 2011, causing a tsunami that devastated that region and destroyed a nuclear plant.

The quake and tsunami killed more than 19,000 and injured more than 5,000, according to the USGS.

The tsunami caused the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant to go into meltdown, and radiation cleanup has continued since then.

Two of the 50 reactors at the power plant have been offline since 2011.
