A driver of a BMW was taken into custody after shooting the driver of a van that rammed his car several times outside a DeKalb County Waffle House, witnesses said.

It happened at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of a Waffle House on Lawrenceville Highway just outside the perimeter. Several employees and customers were inside the restaurant at the time.

Antonio McDaniel, who was cooking on the master grill at the time, told CBS Atlanta News that the van rammed the BMW several times. He said the driver of the BMW jumped out of his car with a gun and walked over to the van.

"He let off about eight rounds," said Antonio McDaniel. "I think he (the van driver) was hit pretty bad, you know, because he (the BMW driver) was standing dead in front of him."

"I was just scared," said Waffle House employee Danielle Curry. "I heard my coworker telling me to get down, get to the back. But I'm looking to see why, and when I turned around, I saw the guy shooting."

The driver of the van was able to drive away. He made it to a nearby QuikTrip where someone called 911, authorities said. Paramedics rushed the driver of the van to Grady Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown.

Police took the driver of the BMW into custody, witnesses said. Authorities have not released his name or whether he faces any charges.
