Robbery crew with Halloween masks target Stone Mountain neighborhood

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA (CBS46) -

In less than a week, the Stephenson Crossing neighborhood in Stone Mountain has been hit three times by armed robbers.

One burglary victim, Perry Addison, said he came home to find nearly $5,000 worth of items stolen. That included, electronics, jewelry, and a handgun.

That was on Oct. 23, the next day Addison said the burglars came back and broke in the same back window. That time, the motion sensors on his security system went off and scared the burglars away.

The following day, Addison said his next-door neighbors were the victims of a home invasion.

"My neighbors who got robbed said they had guns, Halloween masks on and left a weapon - they left a shotgun or rifle in the home in a hurry," Addison said. "I can't leave my house, I can't sleep and it is awful to be in a situation. If there are four or five of them, what can I do? If I have one gun they have five, I am in a no-win situation."

"I have a motion detector, but I have a small dog and let him run through the house, so I didn't have it set, that won't happen again," Addison said.

Addison said he plans to print flyers letting the neighborhood know they are getting targeted. A couple of neighbors have seen the same SUV driving through and staying at one location watching houses. On Wednesday, Addison said he went to investigate another car in the area and they drove off.

"We need to catch these guys," Addison said. "Police have not done enough. Their response time has been really slow, and when a cop did show up he drove in like he was on a Sunday stroll. They told me they couldn't babysit my house and may have somebody come by later on. If they would have came out the second or third day they would have caught them by now."
