Rain moves into Metro Atlanta Friday morning - CBS46 News

Back edge of rain moving through Atlanta

Posted: Updated:

The back edge of rain is starting to move into northwest Metro Atlanta. It's already completely dry in Northwest Georgia, from Rome northwestward

Weather threats in Atlanta Friday

The biggest weather threat in Atlanta Friday will simply be rain.  There could be a few lightning strikes, and some gusty winds, but the severe weather threat in Metro Atlanta appears to be low -- which is an upgrade from the original severe weather threats Wednesday!

Strong winds -- low risk
Lightning -- low risk
Flooding -- none
Hail -- none

Timing

We have a brand new Futurecast model in...and it looks good for Atlanta.

The rain should stick around through your morning commute.  The models have been trending faster, and faster with the rain moving out, so we're forecasting drier weather after noon Friday with mostly clear skies in-time for your Friday night plans!

I've included the latest updated from Futurecast below.

A dry October

Despite a 14 inch surplus in rain this year for Atlanta, October has been dry.  We've only had 6 rain days the entire month with just over 2.5 inches of rain, about 3/4 of an inch below average for November.
