Smyrna woman pleads guilty to assault against estranged husband
SMYRNA, GA (CBS46) -
A Smyrna woman has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and a firearms possession charge related to an attack in July against her estranged husband, according to District Attorney Vic Reynolds.
Anna Benson, 37, went to Kris Benson's home wearing a bulletproof vest and began swinging a metal baton at him, according to court documents. At one point, she held a revolver and demanded money from Benson.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Don Geary, told the court that Kris Benson has never expressed anger, hatred or ill will toward Anna Benson, and is only concerned for his family's safety.
Judge Kell then accepted the state's recommended sentence of 15 years on probation.
She has been held without bond at Cobb Jail since her arrest at the time of the incident.
