COBB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Police have arrested a man suspected of striking a police officer with a Jeep.

According to the U.S. Marshals Office, Dustin Michael Thompson was arrested Thursday afternoon in Austell.

Thompson is being accused of hitting a Cobb County police officer with a Jeep while fleeing a traffic stop on Veterans Memorial Highway back on Oct. 29.

After conducting surveillance, authorities took Thompson into custody without incident.

"Anyone who is willing to harm law enforcement officers is a clear danger to the community and will receive our full attention and investigative might," said Supervisory Inspector Gavin Duffy  of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

"In cases such as this, we devote as many resources as necessary and do not quit until the fugitive is safely taken into custody. In this case we worked hand in hand with our partner agency,  the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, which continues to prove how effective law enforcement can be while working together in a joint environment," he continued.
