CAROLINE CO. (WWBT) -

Virginia State Police officials are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that killed two people and sent a third to the hospital, Saturday.

Officials said the crash occurred at the intersection of Route 207 and Route 1 in Caroline County and added charges are pending.

Police said a 2011 Kia Sorento was traveling east on Route 207 when it collided with a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The pickup truck was traveling north on Route 1. The impact forced the pickup truck to run off the road and strike a utility pole.

Authorities said the driver of the Kia Sorento, 44-year-old Michael Lastes of Fredericksburg, was not injured in the crash. His wife was transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the driver of the Ford pickup truck, 26-year-old Deonn Bailey of Colonial Beach and his 4-year-old son suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

His front-seat passenger, 52-year-old Michael Bailey of Colonial Beach, and backseat passenger, 51-year-old Constella Bailey, also from Colonial Beach, died at the scene.

Michael and Constella were Deonn's parents. The 4-year-old was properly secured in a child safety seat and all of the adults were buckled up according to investigators.
