Banks County deputies have arrested a man who was the subject of an Amber Alert last Friday. They found 41-year-old Michael Wilburn hiding underneath a bed at his father's home.
Deputies had spent Sunday night and Monday morning searching for Wilburn after receiving a tip he had been seen in the area. Banks County public information officer Carissa McFadden told CBS Atlanta News Wilburn had not turned up during previous searches of his father's house, but he was there when they returned between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday.
Wilburn was wanted for the abduction of 2-year-old Paisley Mealor last Friday. She was found unharmed five hours after police say Wilburn took her. A doctor at Northridge Hospital in Commerce called police when he suspected Wilburn had beaten Paisley's twin brother. Officers say that's when Wilburn abducted the girl. Police say Wilburn was the boyfriend of the children's mother.
McFadden told CBS Atlanta News Wilburn was already wanted in Banks County for a probation violation. She said other charges are pending there, as well as a kidnapping charge out of Jackson County.
