The city of Brookhaven announced Tuesday that new sidewalks and paved roads are coming to the north DeKalb county community.
According to a release from the city, new sidewalks will be built along:
Curtis Drive – in front of Woodward Elementary
Briarwood Way – from Briarwood Park entrance to Drew Valley Drive
Coosawattee Drive - at Cartecay Drive
Appalachee Drive – between Etowah and Canoochee Drives
Windsor Parkway – between Osborne Road and the city border
Humility Lane – between Hearst Drive and Ashford Dunwoody Road
Ashford Dunwoody Road – between Humility Lane and Stratfield Drive
Harts Mill Road – at Watkins Place
The city said it approved an amended 2013 budget of $400,000 to build the new sidewalks and that construction should begin after Thanksgiving through early next year.
"We are excited to have the opportunity to improve pedestrian access and work to make Brookhaven more walkable," Mayor J. Max Davis said. "We were able to add these improvements to our neighborhoods without adding any additional funding to the budget."
Five streets will also be paved by the end of November, according to the release. The paving will take place on:
Etowah Drive – between Ellijay and Appalachee Drives
Hunters Brook Court
Stratfield Drive – between Ashford Dunwoody Road and Stratfield Circle
