A Brookhaven police officer's traffic stop resulted in a burglary suspect going to jail just minutes after a break-in.

The officer was parked on Ashford Dunwoody Road near Harts Mill Road around 1 a.m. Thursday when he spotted a Ford Expedition with its license plate covered.

The officer stopped the SUV and saw a large flat screen TV in the back.

The driver, Horace Napier, 51, of Decatur, told the officer he was on his way to install the TV at a friend's house.

At the same time, the officer received a call that a house on Durden Drive had just been burglarized.

A further search of the SUV turned up burglary tools and a ski mask.

"It is proactive traffic stops and good police work like this that sets an example for all of our officers," Chief Gary Yandura said.

Napier is being held in the DeKalb County Jail on charges of burglary, driving with an expired tag and concealing a license plate.
