TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A man who came to Tucson on military leave to attend his father's funeral is dead after an officer-involved shooting on Tucson's southwest side.

The dead man has been identified as 20 year old Marty Maden II.

Maden was on emergency leave from Afghanistan to attend his father's funeral but had become despondent.

Friends and neighbors called 911 when he threatened to kill himself inside the same rented home where his father committed suicide October 31.

According to the sheriff's department he was armed with "multiple weapons".

SWAT team members determined he was a threat not only to himself but to area neighbors.

But according to Captain Byron Gwaltney, while the SWAT team was attempting to diffuse the situation, an officer involved shooting happened.

We were told by others that he came out of the house brandishing a weapons.

He was killed with a single rifle shot.

Authorities were in the 7500 block of South Woodbury Grove Drive, near West Valencia Road and South Camino Verde, for a barricaded man situation. The house was the scene of a 7-hour SWAT situation on Halloween, which involved the father of the man who was shot today.

In today's incident, the man was distraught over his father's death, and family members called 911 because the man was suicidal, according Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Dep. Courtney Rodriguez.

The man came out of the house with a gun and a deputy fired a shot, killing him, according to authorities.

The deputy involved was not injured, Rodriguez said.
