Travel weather on Wednesday

Posted: Updated:

The day before Thanksgiving will be problematic for the northeast, with a combination of rain and snow that could significantly impact travel.  Otherwise, much of the country, including the south, southwest, central Plains, and northwest will be dry and free of any major weather issues.

Trouble Spots

A strong low pressure system will be leaving the south and moving into the northeast Wednesday.  As a result, rain and snow is expected from the Carolinas all the way up to New York City and Boston Wednesday.

Delta has already offered waivers for those traveling to the northeast Wednesday.

Rain is expected in central and south Florida on Wednesday, impacting those traveling to Orlando or Miami.

The same storm system that will be impacting the northeast Wednesday will be leaving Atlanta.  North Georgia will see a mix of rain and snow early, but dry weather can be expected after 8 a.m. in Atlanta.

As cold air invades much of the country, it will bring a strong, cold wind into Atlanta Wednesday.  A Wind Advisory is in effect for Atlanta for at 15-25 mph wind in Atlanta with gusts up to 40 mph.

This could make for an unpleasant ride for those flying into ATL Wednesday.
