Covington officer's home destroyed in blaze

COVINGTON, GA (CBS46) -

According to the Covington Police Department, a blaze destroyed the home of one of their officers on Wednesday.

Luckily, they were able to get out of the house. No one was injured.

The family wasn't capable of retrieving anything. The department is now asking for help from the community.

They are taking donations of clothes and monetary donations at the police department at 1143 Oak Street SE. Their front lobby is open 24 hours a day.

If you choose to donate clothing, sizes needed are:

Men's: 33x34 pants, Shirts Large to Extra Large, shoes 10.5

Women's: Shirts: Medium Shoes: 8 1/2

Girl's:shirts: medium or size 8 skirt, knee length or longer, shoes 8 1/2

Boy's: Size Medium shirts, 7-8 shirts and pants
