Shoppers pull all-nighter at Lenox Square

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The mad rush of Black Friday shopping began at midnight Friday at Lenox Square in Buckhead, with many shoppers staying up all night in order to snag some bargains.

Several stores were advertising 40 to 50 percent off all merchandise.

Macy's actually opened at 7 p.m. Thursday, five hours ahead of most other stores at the mall.

At 4 a.m. Friday, the mall was still busy. Some shoppers had not gone to sleep. Others woke up super early in order to scoop up deeply discounted items.

Lila Walker of Lithonia told CBS Atlanta News that she wasn't sure how Black Friday sales would be affected, since some stores nationwide are beginning to open on Thanksgiving Day.

"I definitely wasn't coming Thanksgiving," Walker said. "I was afraid they might not have any deals for us." She was pleasantly surprised when she found a few good deals.

By 9 a.m., Lenox Square's parking lots were 85 percent full.
