Braves president records message on stadium move

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Atlanta Braves president John Schuerholz recorded a video message on the Braves' move to Cobb County in 2017.

Schuerholz also released a statement saying, in-part:

"We are grateful to the citizens of Cobb County and the leadership in the community who have worked tirelessly to bring this to fruition. I truly believe that this partnership will yield what will become one of the finest baseball and entertainment facilities in the country."

The Braves plan is to start construction on their new Cobb County stadium in the second half of 2014. The stadium is expected to open at the beginning of the 2017 baseball season.

The Braves contract with the City of Atlanta and Turner Field expires in 2016.
