Thousands in Springfield start their holiday season watching the Parade of Big Balloons.
Giant balloons of the Cat in the Hat, Yogi Bear, and the nutcracker cruised down Main Street Friday morning.
Marching bands, community groups, and other dignitaries paraded past thousands lining the streets.
Westfield's Samantha Cowles and her family didn't let frigid temps stop them from getting their annual glimpse of Springfield's parade of big balloons.
"It's kind of a tradition we started," said Westfield's Samantha Cowles, who didn't let the cold stop her or her family from getting their annual glimpse of the parade, "we're bundled up, extra layers, got a couple pairs of pants on."
The parade is put on by the Spirit of Springfield.
