Struggling Georgia needs a win against Chattanooga to get back on track

Posted: Updated:

(RNN) - Two struggling teams face off when the Chattanooga Mocs (3-8) head into Georgia's Stegeman Coliseum Monday night to face the 2-4 Bulldogs.

Chattanooga got an 87-76 win against IUPUI on Nov. 29 to stop a three-game skid. Georgia beat Appalachian State 71-53 after losing four straight. The Bulldogs have lost to Georgia Tech and dropped all three games in a last place-finish in the Charleston Classic.

Chattanooga is a good-shooting team, scoring 85 points per game and hitting 48 percent from the floor, and it attacks from all parts of the court with balanced scoring. Z. Mason is the trigger man in the forecourt, scoring 17.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game; Gee McGhee averages 14.9 points, Greg Pryor, 11.6 and Casey Jones 10.3

Georgia is 2-1 at home and pulled away in the second half to beat Appalachian last week. Georgia is a good-shooting team as well, hitting 47.3 percent from the floor, but their outside game has been almost nonexistent, hitting just 28 percent.

Charles Mann is hitting well over 50 percent of his shots and averages 6.3 points per game. Kenny Gaines scores 13.0 points and Nemanja Djurisic averages 11.2 points per game and is the team's best 3-point threat.

Georgia really needs a win against an opponent it should be able to handle.
