DEKALB COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

An inspector at a construction site on Clifton Road, across from Emory Hospital, slipped into a deep hole Tuesday morning.

The worker was inspecting the site when he fell into the hole and was temporarily under water.

The site is where the new hospital is being built.

Emory released the following statement:

"This morning on the Emory University Hospital construction site on Clifton Road, an incident occurred during an inspection in which water entered a portion of the site and surrounded a worker. The worker was immediately removed from the area. Paramedics have taken him to Atlanta Medical Center for observation. The cause of the water intrusion is under investigation."
