Family grieves death of loved one killed in home invasion

Posted: Updated:

A woman was shot and killed during a home invasion over the weekend.

Pamela Williams was just 43 years old when she died. She made a big impression on people while she was alive.

"She was very outgoing and very social. So many people have contacted us from high school you know? Just an outpouring of sympathy for her because she was such a good person," said Erica Williams, Pamela Williams' sister. "In 2011, I needed a kidney and she gave me hers and that is priceless."

Monday, Williams died at Grady Memorial Hospital from a gunshot wound. Police said she was the victim of a home invasion robbery.

"She called 911 when she heard them and tried to get some help for herself," said Erica Williams.

Police said Williams was on the phone with 911 when the burglars were trying to get in, but by the time officers arrived on the scene, she had already been shot.

"My oldest child. I thought she would be around a long time. She was very smart, very progressive and she was always outgoing and always had a smile on her face. The last thing I remember about her is she visited me in Mobile, Alabama on Labor Day. She came by to see me," said Willy Williams, Pamela Williams' father.

"She was so special, she had so many friends, so much family it is very difficult for us right now," said Erica Williams.

Police have not said if anything was taken from the home and no arrests have been made.
