Santa visits sick children at Rhodes Hall in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) -

Christmas came a little early for sick children in Atlanta. Santa Clause visited Rhodes Hall Wednesday night.

The children who attended the event are chronically and terminally ill and from Camp Sunshine and Bert's Big Adventure.

"Some of them have cancer and others of them do have serious diseases," said Mark McDonald from The Georgia Trust, which puts on the annual event. "Bert's Big Adventure sends them to Disney World and Camp Sunshine provides them with a camp experience. And both of these organizations give support to their families."

The children enjoyed music, arts and crafts, storytelling and pictures with St. Nick Wednesday evening.

The "Santa at Rhodes Hall" event continues on weekends from Dec. 7 through Dec. 21 for all families. A $38 family admission covers entertainment, refreshments and a 5x7 photo with Santa. Families may also bring their own camera or video recorder for an additional $20. Proceeds from Santa at Rhodes Hall support the activities of The Georgia Trust, which is one of the country's largest statewide, nonprofit preservation organizations.
