Popular author teaches children importance of advocacy

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

A popular author was in Atlanta Saturday, teaching children the importance of advocacy.

Angela Williams, author of From Sorrows to Sapphires, made an appearance at Creme de la Creme in Buckhead.

Williams, a survivor of child abuse, read her book, Gracie Finds Her Voice, which is about a young girl who finds her voice and becomes her own advocate for truth.

According to the press release, one in four girls and one in six boys are victims of child sexual abuse before they turn 18.

Williams is an advocate dedicated to breaking the silence and cycle of child sexual abuse through awareness, prevention and healing programs.
