Art enthusiasts are invited to a unique glassblowing show and festival in Atlanta this weekend.
Winter Glass Fest '13 - A Celebration of Frozen Sand features flame-working demonstrations, live music and refreshments.
The festival is presented by Janke Glassblowing Studios. It's scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Studioplex, located at 659 Auburn Ave. in northeast Atlanta.
"We're very family-oriented, so bring your kids," said Kim Janke, the event organizer. "We have a whole kids' craft area where they can make their own ornaments and there's big games that they can play, and we have a DJ, as well."
Many affordable pieces by a variety of artists will be for sale.
"That was one of our other goals, was to have objects that people can afford versus going into some big fancy gallery thinking they can't pay a thousand dollars for a piece of glass," said Janke's husband, long-time glass artist Matt Janke.
Admission and parking are free.
