An overnight fire killed one person Friday, according to the Henry County Fire Department. Investigators said firefighters responded to a burning home at in the 800 block of South Jackson Street around 11 p.m. Thursday.
When firefighters arrived at the home, located just east of downtown Locust Grove, it was engulfed in flames. Those flames kept fire crews from making a direct entry into the home.
Once firefighters knocked down the flames, crews entered the home. They discovered a body inside the charred structure.
Authorities told CBS Atlanta that the remains have not been identified at this time. Investigators are still looking into the origin and cause of the blaze.
CBS Atlanta will have more information as it becomes available.
