Vandals toss water bottles at other motorists

HENRY COUNTY, GA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Henry County police are hoping the public can help them find a group of vandals targeting motorists on a busy stretch of roadway.

Janice Wilson is one of three drivers who fell victim to the criminals.

"I mean I had no clue as to what was happening," said Wilson.

She was driving home from church along state Highway 20 and East Lake Road last Friday night when her SUV was pelted with frozen bottles of water.

"I was hit the first time and I didn't know what it was. And then the second time when I pulled over and I saw they hit my car with a water bottle and busted my light out," said Wilson.

Another member of Wilson's church, who was driving in front of her, was also hit.

The third victim, Jack Preston, got some glass in his eyes when the windshield of his Jeep was hit.

He emailed CBS Atlanta News pictures of the damage.

Sgt. Joey Smith told CBS Atlanta News the vandals are likely kids playing a potentially deadly game.

"They could cause a death or serious injury. It's very possible they could cause a collision if they [victims] left the roadway and struck a tree."

Smith said besides being charged with a crime if caught, the vandals would likely be responsible for all the damages as well.

Police are asking anyone with information about this crime to give them a call.
