A DFCS worker arrested Saturday while transporting an adult made her first appearance before a Clayton County magistrate Sunday morning.

38-year-old Ericka Thompson was granted bond totaling $25,000. She was out on bail on Sunday. Her next court date was set for Jan. 14 at 10 a.m.

Jonesboro Police pulled over and arrested Thompson, with the Division of Family and Children Services, after she was found in possession of cocaine, marijuana and OxyContin.

Thompson was carrying a Henry County DFCS badge, according to Jonesboro Police Chief Franklin Allen. Allen said perhaps the most disturbing part of the arrest was that, at the time, Thompson was transporting a disabled adult to or from a nearby group home.

"She was taking him out for an outing, maybe possibly to get something to eat," said Allen. "I don't know what steps and protocols DFCS has in place for their screening process or ongoing drug testing, but apparently they've got a lot of problems in house that they need to deal with and address."
