Authorities say a South Carolina man appears to have fallen to his death this week in Athens.
Athens-Clarke County police tell the Athens Banner-Herald that 42-year-old Michael Lancaster's body was found Thursday afternoon in a construction waste container at a regional wholesale grocery supplier. Authorities believe Lancaster, who lived in Simpsonville, S.C., fell off the roof of a building where he was working alone Wednesday.
An investigation by local police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation found no evidence of foul play. Lancaster's body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
Lancaster's body was found by a company employee who was putting scrap metal in the container. Lancaster was face down in the container with visible injuries and a cellphone next to his hand.
