Atlanta police are investigating after a child was shot Monday.

It happened on Meadow Glenn Village Lane at the Landmark at Banyan Bay Apartments.

The 6-year-old girl was shot in the leg while walking home from the school bus stop.

Police said the injuries are not life-threatening.

Police have detained several people for questioning.

Keena Thomas, who lives in the apartment complex, said she was terrified.

"Times 10," Thomas said.

Portia Alexander, who also lives in the complex, said violence is commonplace there.

"I've heard shootings, gunshots. I've seen drug deals," Alexander said.
