Police in Marietta are investigating an elderly woman's death after she was found with a gunshot wound. After first calling the death "suspicious," investigators said it appears to be a homicide case.
Around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, a caretaker arrived at a home in the 200 block of Aviation Road to check on Juanita Calvert and her husband. The caretaker found 86-year-old Calvert dead inside the home with a gunshot wound.
The caretaker called 911 and police arrived to investigate.
Calvert's elderly husband was unharmed and taken to Kennestone Hospital.
Police said Calvert died from a gunshot wound. Neither the caretaker, nor the victim's husband, are considered persons of interest in the case, according to police.
