CARROLL COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

A Carrollton couple was arrested after allegedly abusing their 15-month-old son, who was hospitalized with critical injuries.

Steven Harry, 32, and Kristin Parmer, 25, were arrested on Dec. 16 and charged with cruelty to children after hospital staff notified police about the suspected abuse.

Parmer took the unresponsive child to a Carroll County hospital on Sunday afternoon. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital. The child is in critical condition.

Capt. Jeff Richards testified Wednesday in court before Magistrate Court Judge Alton Johnson that the boy sustained injuries over at least a 10-day period. The injuries included skull fractures, a broken jaw, broken ribs and broken vertebrae.

The couple also have a 2-year-old child that is now in custody of the Department of Family and Children Services. Parmer is also eight months pregnant.

Harry and Parmer are being held in the Carroll County Jail without bond.

Charges could be upgraded if the child does not survive.
