Liquor sales suspended at five LIlburn businesses

Posted: Updated:

Customers drove in non-stop to 29 Package on Lawrenceville Highway on Friday night. They were surprised to find the business closed.

The business was one of four liquor stores, and one restaurant that had their liquor license suspended.

Lilburn police conducted a sting over several months. Minors were able to buy alcohol at the five establishments.

The city's Alcohol Review Board heard evidence on Thursday and handed down the suspensions.

29 Package, Depot Package and ABC Beverage were given two day suspensions. Royal Package was given a three day suspension. The Haven Restaurant was given a ten day suspension.

A sign was posted in the window of 29 Package. It said they were cited for one underage sale of alcohol. "First offense in 30 years of business and the City of Lilburn has suspended our license for two days." It also urged customers to call the city and complain.
