Lines continued to grow at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday morning as travelers checked bags and passed through security checkpoints on their way to visit with loved ones for the holidays.
The Harwart family of Flinstone, GA, planned to be in the air all day with flights through Houston to Los Angeles.
"We're going to see our oldest son. He's in the Air Force," said Paul Harwart. "This is our first time going out there as a family."
Diane Davis of Jonesboro also was headed to Los Angeles, where the temperatures are expected to be in the 80s.
"We're barbecuing for Christmas," she said.
Davis was traveling light. She plans to do all of her Christmas shopping when she arrives in Los Angeles.
"I will hit the ground running," said Davis with a laugh. "There should be a sleigh waiting for me."
