ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

On Christmas Eve, Atlanta police said a woman was grabbed at knifepoint and sexually assaulted.

The attack happened near Metropolitan Parkway and Lillian Avenue.

According to the report, the woman noticed a man following her and when she walked faster he picked up the pace. He grabbed the victim from behind and put her in a choke hold. The victim was dragged along the side of a vacant home and sexually assaulted.

The man asked for the victim's identification and cell phone and told her not to look at his face. After struggling and begging her attacker to let her go, he gave the victim her items back and told her to run.

"It is disheartening to see something like this could happen in this neighborhood," Patrick McFadden said.

McFadden lives just down the street from where the woman was assaulted.

"When you see acts like this of random violence being perpetrated, you never know, the next thing is it is inside your home," McFadden said. "This (looking at sketch) guy right here, I will certainly keep a look out for this guy and alert authorities to get this person off the street."

If you have any information on this attack please call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS.
