I-85SB reopens after pedestrian was struck and killed

UNION CITY, GA (CBS46) -

All lanes have reopened on interstate 85 southbound near mile marker 64 after a person was struck and killed Thursday evening around 7:30.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office confirmed that it was called to the scene of a deceased person at I-85 southbound and Jonesboro Road exit. The medical examiner's office stated the person was struck by a tractor trailer truck.

They have not released the identity of the deceased.

Union City police have not released details surrounding how the person was killed. Police shutdown the interstate several minutes later.
