ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety is making it easier for tipsy New Year's Eve revelers to find safe rides home.

The agency is distributing bar coasters that contain a code that patrons can scan with their smart phones. The code directs them to an app created by GOHS called Drive Sober Georgia.

The app enables people to see a list of free rides and paid rides.

"Every licensed cab company is on that site," said Harris Blackwood, director of GOHS. "It breaks it down for areas like Cobb County and Gwinnett and different places like that. So wherever you might be having a good time, there's a listing of where you can find a ride home safely."

The idea is to simplify the process of finding a sober ride.

"Only thing we aren't doing is holding the phone up to their ear, and I can't do any more than that," Blackwood said. "But I am very excited that we've taken this step. We've made it easy for them."
