1 killed in Clayton County traffic accident

CLAYTON COUNTY (CBS46) -

One person was killed Wednesday evening in a Clayton County traffic accident.

According to Clayton County police, the four-vehicle accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on I-285 Eastbound at Clark Howell Highway. The highway from Riverdale Road to the next exit was closed.

Traffic was backed up for miles. Officers reopened the road at 11:00 p.m.

Authorities say a pick-up truck lost control and flipped. The driver, Rafael Menchaca-Dellado, 39, was thrown from the truck and killed. 

Three other people were taken to local hospitals for their injuries.

Police said there was a vehicle involved which left the scene. The vehicle in question appears to be white in color, and should have minor damage on the front passenger side.
