Broken water pipe forces closure of school in Henry Co.

MCDONOUGH, GA (CBS46) -

McDonough Elementary School will be closed to students Friday because of a water main break.

School officials announced late Thursday that an underground water pipe had burst, forcing work crews to shut off the water supply in order to make the necessary repairs. Without running water, staff members would not be able to prepare lunch or provide bathroom or water breaks for students.

Teachers and front office staff must still report, according to a memo posted by the school's principal Dr. Jolie Hardin. Faculty members will be able to use nearby district offices and facilities as needed.
