Douglas County sheriff's deputy release dash cam video of high speed chase

Posted: Updated:

It was like a scene out of the movie The Fast and the Furious.

"They were going 120 mph, they were going 130 mph," said Capt. Bruce Ferguson, with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Video recorded by a camera inside a Douglas County Sheriff's Office patrol car shows deputies racing after a maroon car on I-20 west in Douglas County.

"It was about a 12, 13, 14 mile chase. The chase started at Thorton Rd. We tried to spike the vehicle but it did not work," said Ferguson.

Investigators were after 21-year-old Travoris Hill, 22-year-old Antonio Fortson and 23-year-old Sean Barnes.

"They have been on a little crime spree," Ferguson said.

Detectives said the suspects are wanted for several armed robberies in Fulton County, and the City of East Point in addition to a robbery at an AT&T store in Douglas County.

"They went in took the money from the store, took cell phones and robbed a customer," Ferguson said. "We ended up slowing traffic down around Post Rd. and the deputy did a pit maneuver, and two of the suspects were apprehended after the wreck, and an hour later the K-9 found the third suspect. You know when you are in a basketball game or a football game you put your best player in if he is available, and in my opinion that deputy is the best of the best."
